          Teacher of Level 3 Computing, ICT and Games Design   

                                     (P/T approx. 0.6 FTE) 

Applications are invited for the above part time post in this successful Sixth Form College from September 2017. It is likely to be approximately 0.6, across 4 days/week. 

This is a dynamic and exciting time for developing new courses in this field at Paston SFC. In September 2017 we will be completing the final year of A2 ICT (OCR), the second year of an AQA technical in Games Design, and launching a new BTEC Diploma (720glh) in Computing. 

Our Ofsted report in Dec 2015 rated the college as good in all areas and our college pass rates, higher grades and retention rates are high.  Staff-student relationships at Paston are exceptionally positive. Our students have chosen to be at College, on the whole know what it is they want to achieve and their evaluations of teaching are extremely high. We have excellent facilities in our recently refurbished Computing/Graphic Design suite and our teachers are very successful in creating an informal and supportive classroom ethos whilst at the same time delivering challenging and rigorous teaching and learning. 

We are very proud of our high rates of progression to H.E., well above the regional average, and the fantastic reputation we have locally, and amongst H.E. provider's nationally, for producing excellent results.  

You would be the sole teacher of the ICT and Games Design courses, and work alongside an experienced BTEC teacher for Computing.

Person specification We are looking for the following in an inspirational, committed and successful teacher:-

•  a graduate in a relevant degree

•  preferably a qualified teacher, or willing to train

•  enthusiastic about Computing/Games Design and the teaching of them

•  experience in successful BTEC teaching is desirable

•  an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire, challenge and support students of a wide  

    range of ability

•  a desire to achieve the best possible results for students

•  able to communicate clearly and confidently with teaching and support colleagues, students and 

    parents

•  keen to work with young people aged 16 – 18 

•  able to cope under pressure

•  an excellent attendance record

•  able to treat all staff and students fairly, according to their needs and with respect

•  energy, patience, determination and a sense of humour

•  an understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment

•  able to help us to promote your subjects in our local partner High Schools, the ability to drive is 

   desirable in this rural area

•  able to use ICT to support teaching
