Cambridge High School is a co-educational school established in 1883 and with a roll of approximately 1600 students. Cambridge is in the heart of the Waikato region, famous for its proud Maori heritage, lush farmland and long summers. Cambridge itself is a vibrant town offering an outstanding ‘kiwi lifestyle’. It is within easy reach of ski fields, beaches, lakes, mountain biking and pristine forest – all while only being 2 hours from Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. Recently elite sport has become a focus for the area with Triathlon, Kayaking, Cycling, Rowing New Zealand having established bases here and attracting national attention. The town is going through a period of significant growth and this is creating a real buzz about the future of Cambridge. Cambridge High School (CHS) is highly sought after with families choosing to move into town to gain access to the school. CHS serves the interests of the community incredibly well, meeting the academic, trades, cultural and sporting needs of a range of students. The increased interest in living in Cambridge and resulting school roll growth has meant that we are recruiting teaching staff for the upcoming New Zealand academic year.

We have a vacancy for a teacher of Mandarin to join our languages department. Mandarin is a fast-growing language in Cambridge with a large quantity of students learning the language in our feeder schools. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to build upon this enthusiasm for the language and establish a senior programme of learning in order to provide students with a learning pathway in Mandarin.

On application, please also state other subjects you are able to teach.

Ideal start date is 28th January 2020, but we can amend this to support the needs of the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be eligible to apply for a NZ Ministry of Education International Relocation Grant of NZ $5,000 (if you are an overseas trained teacher) or NZ $7,000 (if you are a returning NZ trained teacher).

Applications close at 4.00pm (NZ time) on 16 December, however we reserve the right to offer this position before this closing date should we find the right applicant.  To avoid disappointment, please apply at your earliest convenience.

To apply, download and complete the application form on our website and submit with a covering letter, CV and evidence of teacher registration to:
