Our School

Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational International Independent School. Bloomsbury was founded in 2016 and offers a British style curriculum to both day and boarding students. Our school is small with around 200 students aged from 2-18, with an average class size of 15. We are a caring, kind team, committed to every student achieving their very best. The students here universally want to do well, and all interactions are based upon obvious and clear respect.

We have received our full accreditation from CIS, one of only 20 schools in Thailand to achieve this accolade. This is a great place to work, alongside a fully qualified, dedicated and friendly staff team.

The Position

Chinese is an important subject in Thailand and it is part of our curriculum from Reception to Year 11. We have some students with fluent Chinese and complete beginners in every class. In this small school, there is only one Chinese teacher, so it is a demanding role catering for the full age and ability range. Support from a Chinese speaking assistant is available.

Key Information

All international staff are expected to be completely fluent in English.

The successful candidate will:

• Have UK qualified teacher status or equivalent.

• Have a professional manner and the ability to communicate clearly and well

• Be approachable, knowledgeable and committed to academic and personal excellence

• Be caring and ready to collaborate in a professional team

Location

Hatyai is located in southern Thailand, only 40 minutes' drive from the nearest beach in Songkhla Town and within easy reach of Krabi, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Koh Samui and Koh Lipe, as well as Penang and Langkawi across the border in Malaysia. The international airport offers 16 flights per day to Bangkok and daily flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both of which are only a short distance away, opening up the rest of Asia. It is easy to spend your weekends or holidays exploring this beautiful part of the world.

Hatyai itself is an up and coming city without the high cost of living found in other more well known destinations in Thailand. There are large western style malls and supermarkets, and many bars and restaurants providing a range of international food, yet Hatyai retains a very 'Thai' feel and the population are very friendly and helpful, welcoming people with the famous 'Thai Smile'.
