About St. Columba’s College

St Columba’s College is a mixed Church of Ireland secondary school with sixth form situated on 140-acre campus on the edge of Dublin City in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. It is an independent day and boarding school with English and Irish language tuition in addition to its modern languages. The school has a school roll of around 300 students between the ages of 11-18. It provides GCSE and A Level qualifications to its students, the majority of whom are from Ireland.

The school was founded in 1843 at a site in Stackallan, County Meath, before moving to its current site in 1849. The current warden has served the school since September 2016.

Values and Vision

St Columba’s is a school of Church of Ireland faith and ethos, but also prides itself on welcoming students from all other faiths. It is a place of high academic aspiration that creates students who are well-rounded individuals and suitably prepared for a successful future.

The school is full of state-of-the-art equipment to help learners in the education and extracurricular activities. It is perhaps the school chapel however, from the 1880s that is the heart of the school, as the one time the whole school meet together every day.

Department of Education and Skills

“Key priorities for development have been identified by management and these are progressing satisfactorily. There is clear evidence that the school is effectively managed by senior management. There is a strong culture of delegated leadership and devolved responsibility in the school.”
