Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a permanent, full time, teacher of Mathematics to teach in this selective Grammar School for Boys.  The successful applicant will be required to teach Mathematics throughout the age range.  Applications are welcome from teachers at any stage in their career.

  • The position is effective from 1st September 2019 however, a starting date during the 2019 summer term is available for newly qualified teachers.
  • Mathematics is a thriving and very successful department in the school. There are six full time teaching staff, one part time and one training teacher in the department. Colleagues teach in all Key Stages. There is a substantial amount of Advanced Level teaching, including Further Mathematics and ideally the successful applicant will have some experience of teaching A-Level Mathematics but more importantly an enthusiasm and wish to do so.
  • There are six rooms dedicated to mathematics teaching – each is equipped with an electronic whiteboard. Software available includes: Smart Notebook, Edexcel ActiveTeach and Autograph. The department uses numerous on-line resources, including access to online textbooks and Dr Frost Maths, to support the students’ learning.

King Edward VI Aston School is an academy school for boys based in Birmingham for students aged 11-18. It is a Christian school.

A selective grammar school for boys and one of the twelve schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham.  It has been part of the Aston community since 1883 and has strong links with many local schools and organisations primarily through the work of its Sports Partnership.
