Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Mathematics on a full-time permanent basis from January 2022. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious and heavily over-subscribed Catholic IAPS preparatory school in the heart of Hampstead. It is Roman Catholic but welcomes boys of other faiths. The majority of boys transfer to leading Independent schools. It moved to its Hampstead location in 1952 and has been managed by a renowned school group since 2009.

The group offer rewarding careers and their teachers are passionate about education and have a desire for personal development. Teaching and learning take place in a climate of trust and openness, where collaboration is the preferred way of working and staff are expected to lead by example. Right through the organisation, investment in training and the development of the individual are high priorities.

The school is looking to appoint a well-qualified, engaging and inspirational teacher of Maths. The person appointed will plan and deliver excellent lessons from Years 3 to 8. They will join a Faculty that is in excellent shape evidenced by success in Common Entrance and senior school examinations as well as external competitions.

The teacher of Maths should be prepared to teach all year groups, although in practice most of the Maths teaching from Reception to Year 2 is undertaken by class teachers. The focus from Year 5 turns to senior school applications, with the vast majority of boys applying for places at leading and competitive London day and boarding schools. A number of pupils are prepared each year to sit for scholarship papers at schools such as Eton, Westminster and St Paul’s. The Maths teacher role is crucial in ensuring all boys are equipped with the knowledge and skills required for success in entrance papers.

The Successful Candidate:

• Will have a good honours degree and Qualified Teacher Status

• The teacher of Maths will be excited about playing an integral role within the department

• The desire to support students in Years 7 and 8 with Maths Scholarship applications, including inputting into references where appropriate;

• A commitment to providing morning and after-school sessions to support Scholarship students

• The ability to provide at least two hobbies per academic year to all students at St. Anthony’s

• Fulfil the role of Form Teacher as directed by the Head of House Pastoral, adopting a holistic oversight of all tutees
