We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Maths to add to the capacity of our Maths team. Our school continues to grow and we are looking to further improve the Teaching & Learning experience of all by reducing class sizes in Maths. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of supporting students to ensure that they make excellent progress.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

·        An inspirational teacher with high expectations of students and themselves, who is determined to secure good outcomes for students.

·        Able to teach maths to KS3 and GCSE.

·        If possible, has A level experience.

·        Willing to generously give their time outside of lessons to students and colleagues.

·        Actively supportive of the learning culture and values of the school.

·        Committed to their professional development

Continued professional development is strong within the Maths team, with a shared CPD period on the timetable. The Head of Department is passionate about developing a teaching for mastery curriculum and is working closely with the local Maths hub You will be supported to develop and improve as an individual and as part of the Maths team.

The Maths Department is housed in a block shared with the English Department with 9 classrooms and an office space. Staffing currently stands at 7 full-time posts and 5 part time posts. Many teachers contribute to the teaching of A-level

In Key Stage 3, the Maths Department follows an adapted version of the White Rose Maths scheme of work that is supported by a series of KS3 resources, allowing students to move through their learning journey at a pace that is appropriate for them. In Year 7, classes are taught in mixed ability form groups for the first term. From Christmas onwards, Maths is taught in ability groups that are regularly monitored to ensure all students are in an appropriate group.

At Key Stage 4, we follow the OCR GCSE specification, students also have the option to study GCSE Statistics as part of our options provision.

Breakdown of GCSE results for 2023.

GCSE Maths 9 – 4: 70%

GCSE Maths 9 – 5: 41%

GCSE Maths 9 – 7: 16%

Maths P8: N/A at this stage

At A level two thirds of all grades were an A or A* in 2023 and this is consistent with Maths being one of the top performing subjects at A-level - achieving 100% A*-B in Maths A-level this year.

The results shown above were an improvement on previous years but we are keen to develop further our strategies for raising attainment across the ability range and the successful candidate will be central in driving this next phase.
