Are you looking to advance your career in a welcoming and vibrant rural school?  We are seeking to recruit two exceptional and enthusiastic teachers of mathematics who have the necessary skills and attributes to become integral parts of our excellent mathematics department within the wider Weald Faculty within the school system.  If you are interested in working with bright, talented students, you could join a friendly staff committed to providing an outstanding educational experience.

Uplands is a college that is   committed   to   staff   development, where   individual   needs are supported through a variety of development opportunities.  We have access to Hegarty Maths, Method Maths, and Integral, to support our students from KS3-KS5.  As members of the Teacher Development Trust, Uplands is a college that is committed to staff development, where individual needs are supported through a variety of development opportunities including formal and informal workshops, and coaching sessions.

Uplands Community College is a few miles outside Tunbridge Wells and on the main line from London by rail.  It is within 17 miles of the Sussex coast and Maidstone and a 50-minute commute from South London by car.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment, in line with our policies and procedures.  Appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS clearance and references, which we will request before interview.  We are committed to equal opportunities in employment and welcome applications from all sections of the community.  The successful candidate will be required to confirm their higher education qualifications and complete a questionnaire regarding his or her health record.

Applicants should expect to be a Form Tutor, and be aware that at Uplands, appointments are made of teachers committed to the personal development of students, rather than simply demonstrating a specialist expertise.  General job descriptions for Teacher of Mathematics and Form Tutor are included in the application pack.

Please note that applications will be considered as they are received and you are therefore advised to submit your application as early as possible, as some interviews may take place, and an appointment may be made, before the closing date is reached for this position. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

We are a mixed 11–18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 835 students. Uplands Academy converted to an Academy in September 2022 and became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formerly Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership will provide many exciting opportunities for professional development, and the sharing of good practice across the two schools. This is the start of a new era for Uplands and an excellent time to join our thriving rural school.

We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for the students of Uplands Academy, and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. The Academy is committed to the development of both its staff and students.

At Uplands Academy, the relationships between our staff and our students are excellent and ones that we are proud of. Our staff have high expectations, are ambitious for our students, and they know them well. We pride ourselves on our rigorous focus on the child as a unique individual, including our most disadvantaged and those with SEND. We ensure that the lessons that our students receive are personalised and inclusive, enabling them to be actively engaged in their learning.   We want our children to be happy, successful, and confident by providing the best possible education for all our students. We want to be an exceptional educational establishment for our community.
