Job overview

Introduction

Hill House seeks an enthusiastic, well qualified and committed person to join the school’s Mathematics Department from September 2022. The successful candidate will be able to teach Mathematics to A Level.

This position would be suitable for either an experienced teacher or a Newly Qualified Teacher.

The School

Hill House is the leading co-educational, independent school in the area, situation on the borders of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. It is an exciting and expanding school of some 700 children from age 3 to 18, where teachers can teach and children can learn. The school was founded in 1912 and occupies a splendid site between Bawtry and Doncaster.

The school has a stunning site, harmonising the history of an outstanding campus with new, purposely designed 21st century facilities. A recent multi-million pound development project has seen the building of a new Sixth Form Centre, Music School, Sports Grounds and Dining Hall.

Academic results are the best in the area, with 75% of GCSEs being awarded grades 9 to 7 this year, and 66% of A levels being graded at A*/A. They compete very favourably with other independent schools; expectations are rightly high, and we are ambitious for our children.

The school is in a thriving and historic area with excellent communication links, around 90 minutes by train from London. The culture, facilities and shops of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Nottingham and Sheffield are all within easy reach, as is the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and the Peak District. The school is surrounded by many beautiful villages in the countryside, and property prices are very reasonable indeed.

The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic teacher with high expectations. It gives the successful candidate the chance to join a thriving department. The successful candidate should be an inspirational teacher.

Results in public examination are very good and both Mathematics and Further Mathematics are popular at A Level. A good number of pupils go on to study Mathematics and associated courses at top universities.

The Department is accommodated in excellent purpose-built facilities. There are currently 6 teachers in the Department.

Hill House provides a Company Pension Scheme and Westfield Health cover. NQTs are guided through induction under the auspices of the Independent Schools’ Induction Panel, which is fully recognised by The Department of Education.

Salaries are above the state sector, and this post commands an attractive remuneration package, including reasonable relocation expenses where appropriate.

Please see the attached Job Description for fuller details.
