Job overview

Hawley Place School is looking to appoint an excellent practitioner to teach Mathematics up to GCSE.

There is a vacancy for a Full Time Teacher of Mathematics from January 2018.

The successful candidate should be a well-qualified graduate, in possession of a recognised teaching qualification.  Applications are welcomed from NQTs and experienced teachers. An induction programme is provided.

At Hawley Place, the Mathematics Department is popular, successful and challenging. It is noted for its imaginative approach to the teaching of the subject. There are currently three full-time Maths teachers in the Department.    Mathematics is taught as a separate subject beginning at Key Stage 3 in Year 7 through to Year 11. The subject is extremely well regarded at GCSE with up to four teaching groups of approximately 15 students within a class group. There is also the provision to study Statistics in Years 10 and 11.

The Mathematics Faculty is based in dedicated classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards. We embrace current developments and innovations in teaching and learning that engage and motivate young people in all areas of Maths. The Mathematics Faculty at Hawley Place seeks opportunities for extension and enrichment, for example, UKMT, STEM activities and Maths Challenges.

The School provides an enjoyable environment in which to work. The pupils are well disciplined, keen to learn and respectfully friendly. Teaching staff foster a caring relationship with the pupils, and through academic study, sporting and cultural activities, and the scope to develop in posts of responsibility, the pupils emerge as rounded, well-educated polite young people.

In return for the hard work expected from the successful applicant, the school will provide an attractive remuneration package and appropriate support to ensure continued professional development. It is expected that the post holder may have aspirations for a Head of Department in the future and we would be keen to support, guide and mentor the post holder.

If you are passionate about both teaching Mathematics and being a part of this influential department, we would like to hear from you. In return we offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits.

Please submit all completed application forms via email recruitment@minervaeducation.co.uk

Deadline for application is Monday 5th June 2017.

Hawley Place represents our vision of a good family school where children can be encouraged, stimulated and supported. Their skills and talents will be recognized and nurtured whatever they are. Courtesy, kindness and consideration (the “3C’s”) are the cornerstones of our ethos, helping us to create the right atmosphere for your child’s social and academic development.

The three sections of the school – Nursery, Junior and Senior- offer opportunities for continuity of education for boys from 2-11 and for girls from 2-16 crossing several important and different Key Stages. In the Nursery, experienced and well qualified staff help young children to settle into school life, develop their independence and build up a love of learning coupled with a natural inquisitiveness. By the age of 11 children are confident and very knowledgeable, having acquired a wide range of interests and skills, as well as an eagerness to continue learning and discovery. They are well prepared to move on happily and successfully to their secondary education. Our Senior School takes girls through their early teens in a single sex environment, encouraging excellence in all spheres of school life and giving a solid preparation for post sixteen studies.

A part of the Minerva group whose philosophy: “inspiring learning” means that each and every school will retain its own special identity, traditions and ethos and Minerva will consciously avoid making any school feel as if it is ‘run’ by Minerva. However, through our “Inspiring Learning” education improvement programme we believe that the education provision in the schools will improve, with our teachers working together to share best practice.
