Job overview
The school is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual as a teacher of Maths. The maths department is one that has a clear vision for its development and has seen sustained improvement in outcomes for students and has a positive Progress 8 score. As well as a Head of Maths supported by a second in Maths, the Maths department also has the Pupil Premium Co-ordinator, a Head of House and two colleagues with TAM qualifications and we are hoping to deliver Core Mathematics outside the curriculum for September 2018.
As you can see, this is a strong, dynamic department to work in. We are looking to assess the educational impact of moving KS4 from seven teaching groups to eight groups by providing additional teaching capacity for the department. We will review the KS4 eight group structure towards the end of the school year. Hence this role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
We are looking to recruit the best teacher possible to this role whether they are an NQT or an experienced teacher looking for the opportunity to work in an outstanding department in an outstanding school.

Balshaw’s is a mixed, comprehensive, Church of England secondary school without sixth form situated in Leyland, Lancashire. It is a community state school operating under the Diocese of Blackburn. An average-sized school, it will provide 925 places for students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.
Balshaw's was founded as a charity school in Leyland in June 1782 by Richard Balshaw. It moved to its current Church Road site in September 1932. Although the school has no official sixth-form, it works closely with nearby Runshaw College, which was originally set up in 1974 to cater for school-leavers from Balshaw's and Parklands High School.

Richard Balshaw wanted the school to be a supportive and inclusive place that benefited the whole child, and his view remains important today.
