As a school, we are immensely proud of our September 2021 Ofsted report which describes our school as ‘Good’ with many ‘Outstanding’ features. Inspectors said that “Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School is a learning community where pupils have great respect for each other. Teachers support pupils to become highly articulate young people who can express their views well on a wide range of issues.” They also commented that “Pupils benefit from studying a wide range of subjects. Leaders have put in place an ambitious curriculum. Leaders and teachers have high expectations of all pupils.”

We wish to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics and are seeking a hard-working and committed person with drive, enthusiasm and inspiration who will make a valuable contribution to the school and its achievements. The governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and passionate teacher to work within a dedicated department of subject specialists who are extremely supportive, forward thinking and friendly, and want the best for all of our pupils.

The successful candidate must be fully qualified to teach within a secondary environment and have a mathematics specialism. The role will consist of teaching mathematics at KS3 and KS4 with the possibility of teaching KS5 in our vibrant Sixth Form, where we currently have very strong numbers studying A-Level Mathematics, and we also offer AS and A-Level Further Mathematics.  

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a well-qualified maths teacher with a record of delivering good and outstanding lessons
  • Able to teach maths to KS4 and have excellent curriculum knowledge
  • Have a solid understanding of current educational research
  • Have the ability to lead and motivate pupils
  • Have a resilient character and a strong personal drive
  • An enthusiastic and passionate individual who can provide first class teaching

About Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School

Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School is a mainstream secondary school for boys aged 11-18. This state voluntary-aided school is situated in West Derby, Liverpool. It is an oversubscribed, larger than average school with an excellent reputation in the sporting arena and increasingly in the arts.

High standards of behaviour are expected by the staff, who help create a close-knit community. The school was awarded specialist sports college status in 2001 and teachers use excellence in this sphere to inspire teamwork and academic progression in the classroom.

In September 2012, Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School moved into newly built premises, which has given its pupils access to innovative science, art, ICT, media, music, catering, technology and PE facilities, plus a new sixth-form centre.
