International School Michel Lucius seeks a qualified Teacher of Mathematics to contribute to our dynamic and rapidly growing secondary school from September 2020 onwards. An earlier start may be possible.
International School Michel Lucius is a state-funded primary and secondary school, located in the heart of Luxembourg’s capital. Lycée Michel Lucius has been providing a high quality education to secondary-school aged students for fifty years. In response to Luxembourg’s fast evolving, highly cosmopolitan and international population, Lycée Michel Lucius created an English language international stream in 2011 which has since grown into a diverse and high quality International School that serves approximately 930 students, representing more than 70 nationalities. The new International School is an integral part of Lycée Michel Lucius, an inclusive and flourishing learning and teaching community of 1500 students and more than 150 members of teaching staff.
An international English-medium curriculum is taught throughout the International School, leading to (I)GCSE qualifications and culminating in International A Levels.
In response to a rapidly growing international student population, International School Lycée Michel Lucius is continuing to expand and seeks to appoint qualified and dynamic classroom practitioners.
We are looking for well-qualified teachers with experience of international curricula. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare students for (I)GCSE and A Level qualifications in a supportive, well-equipped and excellently resourced school environment. Direct experience with Cambridge Assessment International Education qualifications is highly desirable. The ability to inspire students and to guide them to become inquisitive and successful scholars is essential.
Teachers at the International School Michel Lucius have excellent subject knowledge and are expected to work collaboratively, to reflect upon their own practice and to contribute to the ethos and vision of the school. In addition to key teaching responsibilities, staff have a pastoral role, giving them the opportunity to foster students’ holistic development and to play an integral part in the school community.
As a dynamic and innovative school we pride ourselves on acting in the interest of our students and supporting our teachers in the pursuit of their professional goals.
All teaching within the international school is undertaken in English. However, the successful candidate must have certified evidence of CEFR B2-level competence in one of Luxembourg’s administrative languages (i.e., French, German or Luxembourgish). Evidence of a B2 level must be provided when signing the contract. Language competence can be assessed as part of the recruitment process. In addition, all applicants must have a valid teaching qualification from a member state of the EU or the EEA and have 5 years of teaching experience.
