Fixed term contract until post holder returns

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Maths Teacher who is able to instil a love of learning in all pupils, to join our dedicated and well-resourced Mathematics department. We are looking for a candidate who is ambitious, creative and a highly effective classroom practitioner.

Kirkburton Middle School is a highly popular, ambitious school with 516 pupils on roll.  Pupils are aged 10 to 13 (years 6, 7 and 8).  The school is approximately six miles outside Huddersfield, in a semi-rural village setting, with free parking, and is easily accessed by road from towns and cities in West and South Yorkshire. Academic standards at the end of Year 8 are above average and there is a thriving programme of extra-curricular activities. The ethos of the school is a particular strength; welcoming, harmonious, inclusive and mutually supportive. Relationships between all members of the school community are excellent.

We welcome applications from both NQTs and experienced teachers. The successful candidate will teach a full range of classes across the curriculum area. You will be supported by an excellent Curriculum Leader within an extremely strong team, and participate in the regular monitoring, assessing and recording of students’ work, consistent with the Curriculum Area and whole school policies.

Maths is one of the school’s strongest departments and has an excellent reputation for student outcomes. Furthermore, the department is at the forefront of developing Learning & Teaching within the school. The successful candidate will be expected to share the team’s drive, ambition and reflective practice.

The successful candidate can expect:

• A supportive and friendly team of experienced Maths teachers with focus upon improving student outcomes / an established track record of delivering excellent results.

• A commitment to their future development through a well-structured CPD programme

• Motivated students who are eager to learn and engage in lessons

• The chance to work with teachers and middle leaders who are relentless in their drive to deliver the best learning experiences to their students

This is an excellent opportunity for a forward thinking and ambitious teacher to become part of a successful team which values high standards of academic achievement whilst developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed to help students thrive in life and work.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

To discuss the post in more detail, or to arrange an informal visit, please contact the school by phone or email.    Applications should be returned to Mr C Taylor, at the school address or by email to office@kirkburtonmiddleschool.co.uk.  Applicants must include a covering letter (2 sides of A4 maximum) incorporating details of qualities, skills and past experience in direct relation to the role requirements.
