Job overview

Do you have the passion and commitment to support us to achieve our mission statement - “No Goal Is Beyond Us!”

Are you ready to join a school awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted?

Our rapidly improving and hardworking department requires an exceptional and inspirational teacher to join our extensive team.

You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of Mathematics to join an achieving department. Having been judged a good school by OFSTED (2013), we now aim to achieve outstanding. High quality provision is key to securing good outcomes for our students. Within our most recent inspection 50% of Mathematics lessons were judged to be outstanding with the remainder being at least ‘Good’. We are a forward thinking school and team that aims to challenge and engage all students from Year 7 through to Year 11 and this is an exceptional opportunity to join an increasingly successful department and be part of the robust journey, continuing to actively raise the standards that we have worked hard to achieve. We are committed to narrowing the gap between boys and girls and are working hard to ensure that the outcomes of disadvantaged students improve to reflect National trends.

Mathematics benefits from being suited in a relatively new building with new furniture, text books and climate control in all classrooms. Up-to-date technologies are available to support the delivery of high quality teaching and learning in all classrooms. You will become part of a highly supportive Maths Team and school that values collaboration and reflective practice. We are committed to on-going professional development, and recognise that teachers are our most valued resource in securing the best outcomes for our students.

The successful candidate will be, or have the potential to be:

  • An outstanding classroom teacher
  • Passionate about developing their classroom practice
  • Able to engage, challenge and motivate students and staff to raise standards and achievement at all levels
  • Willing to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours of Hartshill School
  • A creative and dynamic professional
  • Reflective, willing to embrace new ideas and technology
  • An effective team member, collaborating and contributing over time to the development of the department

What we stand for...

Our outstanding curriculum which is personalised to the needs of individuals is seen as an example of innovative practice. Central to our ethos is our teamwork, where sharing ideas creates a rich learning environment; it is our aim that together “No goal is beyond us.” We encourage a “can do” culture which is supported by our strong pastoral system.

We believe in building partnerships in a positive environment. Parents and carers are positively engaged in supporting each child. We strive for outstanding in everything we do.

Closing date: Midday Friday 28th October 2016

Ofsted report

“Leaders have high aspirations for pupils at Hartshill Academy. They want all pupils to ‘be kind, work hard, and achieve’. Although leaders’ ambitions have not been fully achieved, pupils say that there is an increasingly positive environment in which to learn. Pupils welcome the clarity of the ‘HART’ values of Heart, Ambition, Respect and Tenacity. They say these values help them to focus on how to develop positively as young people. Pupils are well supported to gain insight into a broad range of work and employment opportunities.”
