“Bartholomew School provides its students with an outstanding education”

We require for September 2024, a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and dedicated teacher of Mathematics to join our thriving and successful team. We offer the successful candidate a commitment to providing excellent professional development and full support in developing their career. This could be a colleague new to the profession, looking to begin their career at an outstanding school, who would be supported through our excellent ECT programme; equally, we would be delighted to receive applications from more experienced teachers seeking new challenges.

This is an exciting opportunity to join this rapidly expanding, oversubscribed academy that has been judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding in both 2009 and 2013. The school has a long-held tradition of high academic standards nurtured within a caring, inclusive school community. We have a successful track record of providing an education which delivers consistently high standards as well as the resilience and emotional intelligence which ensures that our young people have the potential to be leaders of the future.

Mathematics is highly successful and is one of the school’s lead Departments. The subject is very popular, and students gain very good standards of achievement but also enjoy excellent learning experiences. There is a strong team approach in the Department and the School as a whole.

Bartholomew School is sited in the village of Eynsham 5 miles from Oxford and serves the surrounding rural area.

Bartholomew School and the EPA are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is subject to appropriate vetting procedures including a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions as part of the recruitment process.

Please also note that, due to Safer Recruitment in Schools, we usually seek references after long-listing candidates and before short listing takes place, to allow adequate time for the return of references.

Values and vision

The school prides itself on in its high quality pastoral care, its highly qualified teaching staff and well-motivated pupils. The school places equal emphasis on children who are gifted and talented as those with learning difficulties.

Ofsted

“Students make outstanding progress in a wide range of subjects, including English and mathematics. Results in GCSE examinations were above average in 2012 and are on track to be even better this year. The sixth form is outstanding. Most students continue their studies into the sixth form where they achieve very well. A high proportion of students attain the top grades in their A-level subjects and many proceed to higher education.”
