Job overview

Temporary maternity cover from September 2020

We are seeking an excellent practitioner to join our large and successful Maths Department. Whether you are new to the profession, or have a wealth of experience, we would welcome your application!  Along with strong subject knowledge, you will need the ability to teach across the KS3 and 4 ability profile, and the enthusiasm to inspire our students. The ability to teach KS5 is desirable but not essential.

We encourage applications from NQTs looking to secure a role after training and we can provide outstanding induction and support from our strong team of Lead Practitioners and our well established training programmes.  We are committed to excellent CPD opportunities which reflect our emphasis on training, support and career development and we see this as a key element in enabling our staff to achieve their goals and ambitions.

If successful, you would be joining a successful department of passionate mathematicians.  Each year we have over 400 students taking part in the UKMT mathematics challenges at various levels, with a number of students qualifying for additional rounds at all levels.  We host both the UKMT team Maths challenge, and the AMSP Maths Feast.

At GCSE, results are well above the national average with 83% attaining grade 4+ and 26% grade 7+ in 2019.  Uptake at A level is excellent with 8 classes across years 12 and 13, including separately timetabled further Maths.  In 2019, our students achieved 58% A*-B in Maths and 50% A*-C in further Maths.

We invest in our staff and offer frequent opportunities to gain wider experience according to areas of interest and expertise.  We have an extremely active staff wellbeing group who organise events and Teaching and Learning team who provide incentives for sharing best practice.  As a school we recognise that staff are our biggest asset.

Myton is a very popular, high performing school with academy status, situated between Warwick and Leamington Spa, close to the M40.  As a happy and purposeful community, we offer students an exciting curriculum and a huge range of extra-curricular opportunities within a safe, secure and supportive environment. With enduring values of care and mutual respect we support hard-working staff as well as students and families.

We can offer you:

  • Highly competitive salary;
  • A robust TLR structure to enable you to implement your vision;
  • Opportunities to consult with other middle leaders and share best practice;
  • No formal graded lesson observations – just on-going feedback to help you continuously develop as a teacher;
  • Excellent training/CPD;
  • Development towards Senior Leadership;
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme;
  • Cycle to Work Scheme;
  • Free access to the Employee Assistance Programme with Education Support Partnership.

If you possess these qualities and share the school’s vision, then we would be delighted to hear from you.  We actively welcome visits and would be proud to show you around our school.

Please contact Adam Ealden, Head of Department, at ealden.a@myton.co.uk for informal enquiries or to arrange a visit.
