The College requires an inspiring and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to teach up to A Level. We are looking for a full-time member of staff with a passion for mathematics to join this friendly department in our successful and growing College.
Applications from Teachers in Schools and Sixth Form College sectors are welcome. A full mentoring programme is organised to introduce all new staff to sixth form college systems and procedures and to support and encourage professional development.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate. We expect high performance from all our staff, and are looking for an impressive individual to inspire College students. Candidates should demonstrate their ability and suitability to both the role and the culture of the College.
The Mathematics department is a large, successful area of the College. Student recruitment numbers are good and the department teaches over a third of all students at Woking College and is pro-active in broadening the curriculum to meet the needs of students. The department offers:
- Pre GCSE Mathematics
- GCSE Mathematics
- Core Mathematics
- A Level Statistics
- A Level Mathematics
- A Level Further Mathematics
With the range of courses offered by the department, and the number of students we teach, there is opportunity for specialising or teaching a full range of mathematics. The department adopts a collaborative working environment, developing a problem-solving approach to teaching A Level Mathematics.
The department hosts a range of extra-curricular activities which have included trips to the Pirbright Laboratories, participation in the UK Maths Challenge, visits to universities, visits from lecturers at local universities and a Maths Club, where we can explore, with some of our most dedicated and capable mathematicians, elements of mathematics not covered on the current curriculum. In addition, our students have placed a high value on the support they receive from the department through lunchtime support sessions, “Exam Jam” classes, the Easter revision conference and one to one sessions.
