We are looking for an excellent teacher to join our schools dynamic and ever improving Maths Department from September 2018.
We are now pushing to reach outstanding, so you will be going the extra mile to maximise your pupils’ attainment, by planning and delivering stimulating, memorable lessons, setting high standards of academic work, and actively supporting the social, emotional and cultural aspects of each student's learning.
At the same time, there is the opportunity to contribute significantly to developing the curriculum and school policies, including programmes of study, teaching methods and materials, resources and pastoral arrangements, so you may be certain that your voice will be heard.
As a newly/recently qualified or an experienced teacher, you will need to be passionate about transforming outcomes for your students. Naturally, you should be familiar with the statutory national curriculum, well versed in monitoring pupils’ progress, and adept at organising classrooms and learning strategies.
You will find us to the north of the historic city of York and we have an excellent learning environment and superb facilities.

The Joseph Rowntree School is an 11-18 comprehensive of approximately 1,300 students, including almost 200 in the Sixth Form. It is situated to the north of the attractive and historic city of York, in the village of New Earswick. It is 500 metres from the outer ring-road (A1237) and is easily accessible from the towns and villages of the Vale of York, or the cities of Leeds and Hull.
Our modern building is equipped with up to date classroom technology. We have an ongoing investment in new technologies and extensive use is made of Google classroom. We also have a state of the art sports centre and a wonderful performing arts main hall and studio.
We have extensive, attractive grounds, playing fields and an open landscape setting. Inside the building, we have fantastic facilities, which really help to support and challenge our learners. As well as the main school facilities, we also have the Wiltshire Centre (Enhanced Resource Provision) which provides highly specialised support and individual teaching and learning for students of mainstream ability who have significant and complex autism.
Our Curriculum is broad and balanced, delivered in an engaging manner which inspires students to realise their full potential and achieve the best possible outcomes. We implement systems that recognise and reward excellence, encouraging all to strive to do their best.
The school was rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED in 2017 and again in October 2022. Please see our Ofsted report for further details. We were delighted that inspectors acknowledged how well supported our students feel, the quality of our curriculum and personal development work and our extra-curricular provision.
