THIS POST IS FOR AN AUGUST START

Cedarbank School is looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher. The successful candidate will have a passion, desire and commitment to working with young people with Additional Support Needs. They will be responsible for teaching Mathematics and Numeracy in the BGE and Senior Phase. Pupils at Cedarbank School have the opportunity to undertake a range of Maths, Numeracy and Personal Finance qualifications in the Senior Phase.

In addition to having a subject specific teaching commitment, the successful candidate may also be responsible for delivering Lifeskills, Literacy, and Health and Wellbeing. We may also be looking for our new teacher to participate in and deliver courses and awards as part of our Wider Achievement and Outdoor Learning programmes. The successful candidate may be required to teach our pupils in our Senior Phase who are currently based at Deans Community High School and Armadale Academy.

Cedarbank School is a non-denominational school, situated in the Ladywell district of Livingston, which makes provision for approximately 110 pupils from all over West Lothian who have Additional Support Needs. The school offers a full curriculum and has its own well-equipped gym hall and Art, Music, Science and Home Economics rooms. The school has three sites with S1-S3 pupils in the Cedarbank building and S4-S5 pupils based in the Cedarbank Annexe within Deans Community High School. S6 school leavers are based at Armadale Academy. A new purpose built Cedarbank School for all pupils in S1 – S6 is currently being built on the estate of the James Young High School.

The school works effectively with partners and the community to ensure that every pupil has flexible pathways to develop skills, knowledge and understanding now and in the future for life, learning and work. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
