Job overview

Thank you for expressing an interest in the post advertised, to start in September 2020.  If appointed to this post you would be joining an incredibly strong Maths team with a proven record of outstanding results; a team that leads practice in the school and across other local schools.

Applications are invited from talented and enthusiastic individuals who are willing to contribute to the wider life of the school, and who would like to be a part of this ambitious, friendly and supportive school. Applications from good NQTs are welcome.

Although the role is advertised as being full time, applications will be accepted and considered from colleagues who wish to work part time hours. The agreed contractual hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

The governing body will consider either a re-location allowance or a TLR leadership and management allowance for an exceptional candidate.

St Mark’s School is a voluntary-aided Church of England School in the Diocese of Bath and Wells and in the local authority of Bath and North East Somerset. The school seeks to provide excellence in education as a mixed comprehensive school. Our vision is to inspire students for future success, by developing confidence, ambition and independence, whilst encouraging a strong sense of adventure.

This is an exciting time to be joining the school. The school is planning to join the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, a multi-academy trust consisting of 7 Secondary Schools and 16 Primary Schools. The MNSP has over 8,000 students on roll and its primary focus is school improvement. Trustees believe that through effective and true collaboration, excellence can be achieved in our schools. The Trust does not seek to make all schools the same, but through sensible standardisation of practices and outstanding support and challenge, they aim to ensure all schools within the Trust are ‘good’ or better.

St Mark’s is also a member of the Bath Education Trust, a partnership and collaboration of key education providers in Bath and North East Somerset. The aim of the Trust is to improve the educational experience of our students and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We follow safer recruitment practices and appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership Trust was formed in 2009 following a hard federation between Norton Hill and Somervale secondary schools, both located in the town of Midsomer Norton.  Since that point, the Trust has grown to include 10 secondary schools, 1 special school and 17 primary schools, all located in the Southwest of England: Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and North Somerset.

The Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership Trust is focused on school improvement as its primary aim. Trustees believe that through effective and true collaboration, excellence can be achieved in our schools. The Trust does not seek to make all schools the same, but through sensible standardisation of practices and outstanding support and challenge, they aim to ensure all schools within the Trust are ‘good’ or better.

Schools that form the Trust are:

Primary Schools: Clutton, Dundry, Farrington Gurney, Hemington, High Littleton, Leigh on Mendip, Longvernal, Midsomer Norton, Norton Hill Primary, Peasedown St John, Shoscombe, St John's CofE, St Julian's, St Mary's, Trinity, Welton and Westfield.

Secondary Schools:  Beechen Cliff, Buckler's Mead, Hayesfield Girls School, Mendip Studio, Norton Hill Secondary, Preston, Somervale, St Dunstan's, St Mark's, and Writhlington.

Special Schools and Resource Bases: Critchill, Orchard Lodge and Park Road.
