If the answer to these questions is YES, then this is a great opportunity to join a highly successful school as part of a friendly and hardworking department.  Established as a brand new school in 2002, we moved into our award-winning £30 million accommodation in 2005.  The school is located within easy reach of central London via the District Line and yet just minutes by car from the Essex countryside.

In May 2013, Ofsted described the school as good with outstanding leadership and governance. They stated that JRCS offers “an exceptionally caring and challenging education to enable all its students to ‘ACHIEVE’.” The report also stated that the promotion of students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding and takes into account students’ equality of opportunity. OFSTED also said that “teaching in the sixth form is consistently good or better”. The school is highly over-subscribed with well over 1,100 expressions of preference for the 300 spaces available in Year 7 for this year. This summer we achieved our highest ever KS4 results with 64% of our Year 11 students achieving A*-C grades including English and Maths. The results achieved by academic and vocational Sixth Form students remained significantly above national averages.   

The Maths department is looking for a creative and dynamic teacher of Maths to join our successful team. Applications from experienced teachers and NQTs are welcome. You will be able to motivate and inspire our students to achieve their very best   

The Maths department is staffed with a highly committed and effective team is now based in newly built (moved in September 2015), custom designed Mathematics dedicated classroom block. All the classrooms are equipped with data projectors, interactive whiteboards and visualisers. There is also a well-equipped staff base and areas for break out groups. The department has seen improvements in the progress made by students over the last 5 years and this year exceeded national averages for the headline figures, and was the highest performing maths department in the borough in terms of progress. This year, we achieved our highest ever number of A/A* grades in year 11. Our GCSE Statistics in year 10 continues to go from strength to strength, with 98% of the entries achieving A*-C.

At The Jo Richardson Community School we are committed to reaching the highest standards in everything we do. We want all our students to achieve the best possible examination results as well as have the opportunity to take part in the widest range of extra-curricular activities. Central to our work is the motto ‘Success For All’ which underpins our belief that every individual has the opportunity to gain high quality academic qualifications. These enable students to progress to college, university or a good job when they leave us. The curriculum we offer provides both a wide range of traditional academic subjects as well as more practical work-related courses.

We also want our students to develop opportunities to succeed outside the classroom. Our extra-curricular provision provides a range of opportunities for achievement that will develop confidence and build self-esteem. Our student council also plays an important role within the school, and is just one example of how we seek to develop our students’ leadership skills.

None of this can be achieved, however, if the ethos isn’t right. We believe it is our responsibility to make sure students feel happy and secure at school. We do not tolerate any disruptive behaviour that has an effect upon the progress of others.

We operate a bullying and behaviour policy based on zero tolerance. In the rare event that a student is involved in bullying or in disrupting lessons they are automatically excluded from school and not allowed back into circulation until we are confident that problems will not recur. We make no apology for the hard line we take in this respect – students need to know they can come to school free from the fear of intimidation, and where their lessons will be focused on achieving academic success.
