Job overview

Teacher of Mathematics

Salary: MPS/UPS

To start: January 2018

Kirk Balk Academy, and The Northern Education Trust are pleased to be able to present you with an excellent opportunity to join our forward thinking, enthusiastic and fully resourced Mathematics department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Maths teacher to join us on the back of our best ever results at GCSE, continuing our year on year improvements across the board. With the new linear exams system in English and Maths, 75% of students overall achieved a standard pass in English, with 68% achieving the same in Maths. These are amongst the highest results both locally and within the trust.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher of Mathematics to work with our large and supportive faculty of nine subject specialists. Our Mathematics faculty is led by our Director of Mathematics, and is supported by Assistant Director of Maths, a Lead Teacher and a TLR post holder. The department also benefits from a dedicated HLTA to support students and lesson delivery. Our department is enthusiastic and always keen to implement fresh ideas into their teaching practice on a regular basis to enable continuous improvement and engaging lessons for all students.

We are committed to providing all staff who work at Kirk Balk every opportunity to become the best they can be. Staff at all stages in their careers have access to a bespoke programme of high quality CPD in order to further improve their teaching practice, enhancing career aspirations and encouraging innovation. We have designed a ‘New to Teaching’ CPD programme to support NQTs and RQTs in the early stages of their teaching careers. We are keen to continue staff development throughout your time at Kirk Balk through internal and external providers to enable all teachers to be excellent in their own classroom.

We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:

  • Motivate, challenge and inspire students within the Mathematics department to be the best that they can be;
  • Be committed to raising the achievement of every student;
  • Have high expectations and be committed to the academy ethos and vision;
  • Be enthusiastic, resourceful and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of student achievement, personal development and well-being are achieved.
