Wembley High Technology College is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2019, our Progress 8 score of +1.57 has been recognised as the 4th highest in the country by the Department for Education. This progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE has a transformative impact on our pupils’ life chances and last year, over 50% of pupils leaving us went on to Russell Group Universities to study a range of academic subjects. In September 2020, Wembley High will also be welcoming pupils from North Brent School in Year 7 for two years while their new £27 million building is completed. The addition of a new school in our Multi-Academy Trust provides exciting development and leadership opportunities for staff in the years to come.
The Maths Department
We are looking for a teacher who can make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department and teach maths across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. At GCSE, pupils study the Edexcel maths specification with many pupils completing their GCSE in Year 10 and then going on to study qualifications such as Additional Maths and GCSE Further Maths. This provides a stepping stone for A Level maths, which over 100 pupils choose to study each year. Due to the success and popularity of the subject, many of our pupils go on to study maths related courses at university. As a top performing department within the school and the country, pupils strive to succeed at the highest levels; in 2019, 91% of pupils achieved grades 9 – 4 in maths GCSE with 62% awarded grades 9 – 7. At A Level, 77% of pupils achieved A*- B grades and our value added has been in the top 1% of the country for many years now.
