Job overview

This is a part-time position; however we are flexible and all applications will be considered.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Maths to join our successful Maths department. This post could suit an ECT as well as a more experienced candidate.

The department is comprised of seven members of staff, including a Lead Practioner. Currently there are six GCSE classes and one A-Level class. Our key stage 4 and 5 results have been on a three year upward trend, in 2022, 76% of students achieved a 4+ in Maths. At A-level 100% of students achieved A*- C. This is an exciting time to join our school, as a community we are working together to ensure we continue to build on the successes of last year.

The Department benefits from a weekly timetabled collaborative planning period, giving staff time to reflect on subject pedagogy and continuously strive to improve.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate their passion for Maths to students of all abilities. You will have the desire to make Maths the most interesting subject to every student in the school and you will have belief that every student can do well in your classroom.

The person appointed will be well supported through our teaching and learning coach, a well-established professional studies programme and through a comprehensive induction process. The school offers bespoke CPD opportunities ranging from National Professional Qualifications support to supporting MA programmes.

Our recent OFSTED inspection in February 2019 made the following comments about teaching and relationships at school:

  • Teachers are wholehearted in their desire for pupils to achieve well. Relationships between teachers and pupils are constructive and are built on trust and mutual respect. This enables pupils to have the confidence to ask for help and support when they are stuck or unsure.
  • Pupils conduct themselves in an orderly manner. They are welcoming, self-assured and act in a polite and respectful way. Lunchtimes are calm, with groups of pupils engaged in friendly conversation.
  • The majority of pupils display a positive attitude towards their learning. They are keen to succeed and value the efforts made by their teachers in supporting them in lessons.

Our school vision is to ensure every student realises their potential, through every member of our community having high aspirations for success, both within and beyond the classroom. You will be joining a highly skilled staff, who are supportive, show determination and resolve.

Why should you work at The Beaconsfield School?

  • Highly supportive staff body, including a staff committee responsible for representing staff wellbeing.
  • Bespoke professional opportunities including support to undertake Masters and NPQ programmes.
  • Significant investment in a newly refurbished staff room and staff workroom.
  • Dedicated time within the school day for co-planning.
