Located a short drive from Carlisle city centre, Richard Rose Morton is a rapidly growing 11-16 school, with a shared sixth form located at the site of its sister academy, Richard Rose Central, with whom it works very closely. The state-of-the-art school sits at the heart of its community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school.
From being in special measures in 2013, Richard Rose Morton Academy has improved year on year since joining United Learning in 2014: the number of students achieving five good GCSEs including English and maths has increased by 28%, and it is now an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school. The school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives, supported by a state-of-the-art building and a dynamic and exciting learning environment. It is a happy, hardworking and harmonious place. The staff share a dedication and commitment to motivate and inspire students to achieve beyond their expectations. Together they aim to ensure that students receive an excellent experience, every lesson, every day.
You will be joining the school at an exciting time, as we continue our journey towards excellence.
The Academy is seeking to appoint a professional and talented Teacher of Maths with excellent numeracy skills to teach throughout the age and ability range.
We seek an enthusiastic, committed and forward looking professional who can contribute to the growth of this important subject area. Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to be an effective team member, they will show how they have or will contribute strategies and resources to support this growing department and will show a thorough commitment to student learning.
The Academy has recently been judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is now working towards becoming ‘Outstanding’. Our GCSE results in 2017 put us amongst the fastest improving schools in the country. Outcomes in maths have improved from 49% A-C in 2013 to 65% in 2017 with further improvements confidently predicted in 2018. The maths team are committed and hardworking, and have created a department which is thriving, innovative and achieves excellent student outcomes.
Richard Rose Morton Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.
Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.
As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
