Full Time Teacher of Maths



 

We are looking to appoint a Maths Teacher to join our expanding Mathematics department due to rising student numbers. 

The department are working towards adopting a mastery curriculum and are currently working alongside the Maths Hub and specialist mastery leads. This is having a positive impact on student engagement and progress. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and have excellent professional development opportunities both in Maths specialisms and teaching pedagogy. Our Maths team is currently made up of 12 staff, including a full time Maths Learning Support Assistant, who work collaboratively and are supportive of one another’s professional development. 

 

 The Post

We are looking for a candidate who is:

·        An outstanding and inspirational teacher with high expectations of students and themselves.

·        Able to prove they have a successful track record of securing good outcomes for students.

·        Able to teach maths to KS3 and GCSE.

·        If possible, has A level experience.

·        Willing to generously give their time outside of lessons to students and colleagues.

·        Resilient, has presence, boundless energy and a good sense of humour.


Facilities and Resources

The Maths Department is housed in a block shared with the English Department with 9 classrooms and an office space. Staffing currently stands at 6 full-time posts and 5 part time posts. Many teachers contribute to the teaching of A-level.

 

Teaching and Learning

In Key Stage 3, the Maths Department uses its own scheme of work that is supported by a series of KS3 resources, allowing students to move through their learning journey at a pace that is appropriate for them. In Year 7, classes are taught in mixed ability form groups for the first term. From Christmas onwards, Maths is taught in ability groups that are regularly monitored to ensure all students are in an appropriate group.

 

At Key Stage 4, we follow the OCR GCSE specification, students also have the option to study GCSE Statistics as part of our options provision.


GCSE results for 2021/2022.

GCSE Maths 9 – 4: 70%   

GCSE Maths 9 – 5: 44%                  

GCSE Maths 9 – 7: 12%                           

Maths P8: -0.33

 

At A level 65% of all grades were an A* to C in 2021/22 with 36% achieving A* - B. We are keen to develop our strategies further to raise attainment across the ability range and the successful candidate will be central in driving this next phase.
