Values and vision

Dawlish College aims to ensure that pupils “become better than they ever thought they could be”. This objective is based on three expectations placed on every child at the College: —aspire to be the best you can be in all you do; believe that anything is possible and aim high; and achieve the best you can to give you positive choices in life.

The College hopes to provide students with dedicated and skillful teaching staff. The success of the college is based, the school says, around recognising the needs of the individual and wrapping education around the child rather than trying to fit the child to their education.

The school therefore tailors the curriculum, support and teaching to meet the needs of individual students - something that it says it can do thanks in part to the relatively small size of its student cohort compared to other secondary institutions,

Ofsted

“Pupils achieve well in creative and practical subjects and in Spanish because teaching in these subjects is highly effective.”

“The curriculum is matched well to the needs of pupils and linked effectively with good careers guidance. All pupils progress to post-16 courses, training or apprenticeships that meet their needs and aspirations.”
