Job overview

St Helena School is a highly regarded 11-16 co-educational Academy, awarded Good by Ofsted. Our school has ambitious goals for high standards, and requires like-minded colleagues to join our team. Located on 17 acres, in a quiet part of historic Colchester, the school has a fine blend of traditional and modern facilities, and opened a £2.5 million new Science and Technology block in September 2015.

St Helena has a strong Numeracy programme and strives to consistently improve the students strengths and abilities in mathematics.

We are now seeking to appoint a talented, creative and dynamic Teacher of Maths to join our Maths Faculty from September 2016. The successful applicant will be a very strong classroom practitioner with a real enthusiasm for mathematics. The successful candidate would be offered the opportunity to engage in and support the development of clubs that encourage mathematics skills.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop their practice within a highly supportive, friendly and successful Faculty. We can offer access to an exceptional CPD training programme, and a wide range of opportunities to prepare for future leadership.

Headteacher’s Welcome

At St Helena School, our desire is to provide exciting opportunities, tailored for our young people.  Through collective learning, we create a legacy for those who follow.

Working with parents, Governors and wider partners, enables every student to be known, contribute to our community and fulfil their ambitions.  We have the privilege and great responsibility to develop tolerant, respectful citizens who will leave us with the tools to be a success and make the world a better place.

The importance of educating the whole child is reflected in our rich and broad extra-curricular offer.  We provide opportunity to craft life-long memories.  Students are encouraged to take part in trips, visits and activities throughout their time with us to feed cultural, sporting and creative appetites.

A prospectus can only give you a flavour of life at St Helena School.  We welcome you to visit our school, to see our teaching facilities, and more importantly, to feel the inclusive, vibrant and purposeful culture our young people create.
