Job overview

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a World Class School with high expectations, encouraging our students to be aspirational with their learning and to enjoy all aspects of school life. We are looking to appoint an engaging and enthusiastic Teacher of Maths to join our highly effective Faculty on a part-time, short-term basis.

We are increasing staffing in our Maths department so that we are more able to address gaps in student learning as a result of the pandemic. If you are an experienced teacher, skilled at working with whole classes and small groups from across the ability range, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, contracted to the end of the academic year.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified and committed teacher, to work within an innovative and successful Mathematics team. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated professional who has a real love for their subject and the capacity to use creative approaches in their teaching. We have a hardworking, well-staffed department with a strong team ethos.

Why work for Tolworth Girls’?

Employee wellbeing is a key part of our values; we offer a wide range of incentives to engage colleagues to ensure they are appreciated and feel valued. Regular professional development is a key focus for Teaching and Non-Teaching staff. All new colleagues get a buddy and a mentor for NQT’s, with a tailored induction programme, to suit you. We have recently trained many colleagues across school to be mental Health first aiders and all staff receive support, information and guidance on mental health and their personal journey.

We are currently offering a full virtual curriculum to our students via Microsoft teams. We operate a mini school for our most vulnerable students and those of key workers. Staff cover this on a rota basis in school. We operate a covid-19 safe environment, to a strict risk assessment, which is regularly updated alongside current guidance in school. All applicants would need to be set up to teach virtually from home and then in school, as soon as guidance allows us to.

Our benefits include Teachers Pension scheme; early finish for all half and end of terms; discounted fees with a local nursery; on-site parking and flu jab vouchers. We have a dedicated newly refurbished staffroom, with free tea and coffee.

Accreditations

Our last OFSTED Inspection in September 2017 confirmed that Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is an outstanding school in all areas. In 2018, we also received World Class School Accreditation, supporting our absolute committed to providing the very best education for our students.

Teacher Testimonial

Maths NQT started July 2018

"I was attracted to TGS when one of my university peers was enjoying her PGCE placement at the school. The main attraction was how she spoke about the Maths department. She wasn’t lying when she said that they are friendly and supportive. One of the reasons for me settling into teaching so well is a result of how welcomed I felt across the school.

In my weekly NQT meeting's, my mentor ensures that I am on track with progression as a new teacher as well as meeting the teaching standards each week, which contributes towards completing the NQT programme. Meetings also include my personal wellbeing – My mentor gives me solid advice and plenty of support on managing my workload and how best to reach the goals I have set myself in the workplace. "

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check. The School is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all members of the community regardless of gender, age, marital status, disability, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
