Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher looking to work in an Outstanding Academy, part of the renowned Outwood Grange Academies Trust?

We are seeking applications for teachers of Maths to join our team to cover these posts during maternity leave. You will have the drive and vision, to deliver excellence in these departments. Candidates with a clear focus on outstanding outcomes for students, you will ensure effective teaching and learning is in place to raise standards and transform our students’ life choices.

Historic Ripon may be the third smallest city in Britain, but its home to one of the country’s best performing academies. In our last OFSTED inspection (January 2016) we were judged outstanding in all areas. Ofsted recognised that ‘Outstanding teaching is at the root of students’ excellent achievement’ and ‘the excellent behaviour of students contributes to an outstanding climate for learning’.

Our Senior Director leads the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means OGAT maths is helping to inform and mould the landscape of maths, regionally and nationally.

As a Teaching School and being part of OGAT, we have a great training package for NQTs and teachers new to the academy including: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you so you invest in our students and this opportunity offers scope to build a career across our range of schools.

Outwood Academy Ripon benefits from experienced teachers who are willing to engage in change and develop their practice to enable students to achieve. We are looking for an inspiring Teacher who has high aspirations for both staff and students in this subject area, who is both committed and passionate about their subject.

If you are interested, please apply now! We invite you to contact Mrs Vinutha Chandrashekar, HR assistant should you have any questions or require further details. A visit to the school is encouraged and can be arranged if required.

We reserve the right to close advertisements early. Advertisements will therefore close at 12 noon, either on the advertised closing date, or the day the decision has been taken to close the advertisement early.

We are proud that Outwood Academy Ripon is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We are an 11-16 academy based in the cathedral city of Ripon, near the UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing the magnificent Studley Royal Deer Park, including the well-preserved Cistercian Fountains Abbey. Our success is one of the most impressive in North Yorkshire, and we have been recognised for our consistently excellent outcomes in progress and attainment.

Part of the Outwood Family since 2011, and judged as Outstanding by Ofsted since 2016 we retained our Outstanding status in a recent inspection, an inspection which stated that ‘Pupils are supported by caring staff who know them well”, “Pupils know that learning is important and apply themselves diligently to their work’” and noted that the relationships between staff and students are ‘very strong and behaviour around the academy is of a high standard.’

We aim to promote the highest standards of academic achievement through inspiring teaching and learning, with a curriculum designed to stretch and enrich our students’ experience. Our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving at a Grade 5 or above in English & maths GCSEs, and we have won numerous awards as a school including the Carnegie Mental Health Silver Award, Anti-Bullying Alliance Bronze Award and being accredited with the prestigious IQM Centre of Excellence status, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us

Put simply, we take pride in serving the local community, ensuring everyone has a right to learn.

Despite being Outstanding, we are constantly looking at ways to improve. Help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy. All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
