Teacher of Maths

Sandwick Junior High School is a non-denominational school located in Sandwick. It provides early years, primary and secondary education up to S4 for children from Sandwick and the surrounding area for primary and the whole South Mainland for secondary. The structure of the school is 2 early years sessions (1 am and 1 pm), 5 primary classes and secondary 1-4 classes. There are currently a total 279 pupils on the roll. The school prides itself on a welcoming ethos and a desire to develop skills for life and work.  As part of the focus on Developing the Young Workforce, the school links up regularly with local STEM and SDS advisers to encourage pupils to learn more about maths-related careers.  This is something we will continue to develop further, exploring careers in Shetland businesses.  Sandwick also has a keen interest and excellent success record in Team Maths Challenge events, something that we would be very keen to involve all members of the maths team in.

• Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.2729 per hour
• Permanent Term Time Part Time post for 14.0 Hours per Week, 39.00 weeks per year plus 8 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays
• Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
