Job overview

We are looking for a Maths/STEMV teacher who is passionate about supporting young people who have often found school a challenge. A teacher who shares our determination to improve our students’ life chances and give them learning opportunities which stimulate and excite. Our ideal candidate would be an experienced KS3/ KS4 teacher who wants to develop their practice and experience more dynamic ways of engaging children in learning. 

This post will remain open until successfully filled by the right applicant - early applications are encouraged. Please note we can not accept CVs. This post is being offered as either part-time or full-time and we are able to offer flexible working conditions for the right candidate. 

Our ideal candidate will:

- demonstrate the highest quality of teaching, learning and assessment – inspiring our students; sharing a passion for learning 

- work closely with our headteacher, STEMV pathway lead, our staff, parents/ carers and our students to deliver our strategic vision and help make our ambitious plans for the academy a reality

- be committed to tackling disadvantage and improving every student’s wellbeing and life chances. 

Just 40 minutes from central London by train, Olive AP academy – Thurrock is based in Tilbury. Our brand new building opened to staff and students in summer 2017. The academy facilities include purpose-built kitchens, computing suites, music studio and multi-sports pitch. 

Our alternative provision academy has up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16 on roll at any one time. Our staff supports young people who have been placed at the academy for a period of intervention work, following a permanent exclusion from a mainstream school. The academy also supports young people with medical needs. 

Our academy was rated "Good"in all areas by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2018.

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock
