United Learning

Shoreham Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated teacher to join our highly successful maths department. GCSE results have steadily risen over the past 5 years with students achieving their best ever results in 2019 with 78% 4+ and 59% 5+. We have a large uptake of students continuing to study Maths at A Level, so there are potential opportunities in teaching KS5 if candidates have the relevant experience.

Shoreham is an Outstanding school located in the heart of the communities in Shoreham and Southwick. Our mission is that we develop “the best in everyone” in both our staff and students and we offer outstanding professional development and career progression. There are excellent transportation links and the school is easily assessable from the South East area.

Why choose Shoreham Academy?

  • Culture of high expectations with a binary behaviour system that allows teachers to teach and students to learn
  • Whole class feedback and centralised detention system
  • Our teaching policy is underpinned by the Rosenshine Principles with resourced Schemes of Work and assessments
  • Extensive CPD to support all career stages working with UL and local providers
  • Modern state-of-the-art facilities

We welcome applications from NQTs, or from experienced teachers looking for a new opportunity. For further information about the school and to apply for the post please visit our website at www.shoreham-academy.org or email donna.churchill@shoreham-academy.org
for further details.

The closing date is Monday 27th January at 8.00am and interviews will be held on Wednesday 29th January.

We would welcome applications from candidates who could start in April or in September 2020.

Welcome to Shoreham Academy – a unique, successful and dynamic school at the heart of the communities of Shoreham and Southwick. The moment you walk through the door at Shoreham Academy you can feel the buzz, energy and excitement of an inclusive school that focuses on the enrichment, enhancement and learning of all children.

We are an 11-18, non-selective academy where everyone – staff and students alike – strive to be the best they can be. We see each child as an individual and seek to give them an education which best suits their abilities and interests. As adults we also see ourselves as a work in progress and invest heavily in our own professional development in order to remain challenged by what we do and inspirational in what we can give. We seek to employ enthusiastic, dynamic and inspiring staff to join us in working creatively with our young people and enabling them all to achieve great things.

We focus on nurturing the whole child; our broad and balanced curriculum is complemented by a wide-ranging and exciting programme of extracurricular activities. There is something for every child at Shoreham Academy – whatever their interests, whatever their abilities. All students participate in the Shoreham Academy Experience with the expectation of fulfilling a number of ‘pledges’ in preparation for adult life.
