Job overview

Felpham Community College is an 11-18 local authority, mixed comprehensive with 1600 students on roll and a successful sixth form. In March 2019, our one-day, short OFSTED inspection confirmed our OFSTED ‘Good’ status originally achieved in January 2016. This is an exciting time to join Felpham following the opening of our £11.5M new build programme in late 2019, providing outstanding facilities for our students and staff.

We are seeking to appoint a teacher of maths to join an established and effective team of specialists. This will be a stimulating and rewarding post for an enthusiastic teacher to join a team of 9 teachers.

The department has detailed, well-resourced schemes of work for every key stage and well planned and structured lessons. Teachers regularly share ideas and work collaboratively to develop and improve these schemes of work and lessons to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

The successful applicant will be keen to immerse themselves in this effective team, contributing to the future development of the department. They will be required to teach maths across key stages 3 and 4 and the ability range. There is also the possibility of KS5 teaching for suitably qualified candidates. A desire to build strong, effective relationships with students and staff to create a cohesive, inclusive, and positive school environment is also sought.

Please visit our website (www.felpham.com) for more information and an application pack.

Closing date for applications is: 10am, Wednesday 1 May 2024

Interviews will be held week commencing 6 May 2024

We ask that candidates submit their application to jobs@felpham.org.uk as soon as possible as some interviews may take place before the closing date.

As a Unicef Rights Respecting Gold Award school, FCC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check; online searches may be done as part of due diligence checks.

FCC is an 11-18 local authority, mixed comprehensive with 1420 students on roll and a successful sixth form. In March 2019, our one day, short OFSTED inspection confirmed our OFSTED ‘Good’ status originally achieved in January 2016.

The school has a good record of academic outcomes and pastoral support and our core values of achievement, care and equality underpin our work, creating a happy and vibrant school.

Last year saw the completion of significant building work costing £11.5M. Students joining us from 2020 benefitted from fantastic modern facilities in our new three-storey block that replaced all of our older classrooms. Whilst great schools are about the people in them and not just the buildings, the enhanced facilities at Felpham have been a massive boost.

Values and vision

Felpham Community College want all students to thrive in a nurturing and stimulating learning environment and follow three core values: achievement, care and equality. It hopes for all children to reach their full potential and identify their individual talents, allowing for them to have the confidence to succeed. The secondary school wants students to show compassion and kindness, and respect one another, regardless of their differences. Students are prepared for life after school and have plenty of opportunities to attend extra-curricular activities to broaden their experiences outside of the classroom. Felpham Community College holds an International School Award, where a global outlook is embedded into students. The school has also been recoginsed as a Healthy School and has received an Artsmark Award and Sportsmark England award.

Ofsted

“The school is a warm and welcoming place. Pupils’ welfare is a very high priority for staff and good  systems are in place to offer help and support, sometimes involving external agencies when appropriate. A very high proportion of parents say that their child is happy in school and is well looked after here. One parent described how, ‘the staff have been excellent at looking after [their son’s] whole educational well- being. They have responded to any concerns immediately and have helped him as if he were their own’”.
