Job overview
Derby Cathedral School opened in September 2018 with a Year 7 cohort of 170 students. With the enrolment of a second year group in September 2019 the school needs to double its staffing complement. The school will increase annually by 180 pupils until its designated NOR of 1300 pupils is reached. Housed in temporary accommodation, beside the railway station, until Summer 2020, the school is currently working with contractors to deliver a new city centre, state of the art school in just over 18 months time. A Church of England free school, the first in the Derby Diocese, sees us as the inaugural secondary school within the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust. The school accepts pupils of all faiths and none, however it is underpinned by clear Christian values and works collaboratively with Derby Cathedral in a number of areas. As a specialist maths and music school, we naturally offer additional opportunities in these areas. The school is well resourced having ample teaching facilities and new equipment in every faculty. A positive IT partnership with a multinational company ensures a high quality provision of pcs, I-pads and laptops.
This post will see the successful candidate deliver Maths and Information Technology to years 7 and 8 initially. As the school grows the opportunity to specialise in one or the other subject will be possible. Both departments will see considerable growth in forthcoming years.
As the school grows there will be significant opportunities for career development.
Interviews are scheduled for early December and will take place at the school in central Derby.
