As one of the largest sixth form colleges in London (more than 2,500 students), we are a non-selective, diverse and secular college, proud to have launched over 50,000 young people onto university, training and employment since we were founded in 1992. Our results for A-Levels and vocational study are impressive – in 2018, a massive 90% of applicants progressed to university and we were also rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ for Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare (PDBW) and ‘good’ for overall effectiveness.

The media team is graded as outstanding and has won awards for the innovative and stimulating range of opportunities it offers to students.  The team is also well resourced with facilities including a large multimedia suite (including 4 classrooms and 13 editing suites with Apple Mac computers).

We aim to provide students with a good balance between practical production skills and a wider theoretical understanding of media in order to equip them for progression into higher education or the workplace.  Our innovative curriculum planning is driven by the desire to deliver the highest calibre of stimulating and challenging projects in order to enable students to develop collaborative work with external partners as well as in cross-curricular contexts within college.

Programmes currently offered by the team include:

• UAL Level 2 and Level 3 diplomas and extended diplomas in Creative Media Production

• BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas/Certificates in: Interactive Media; Photography; Television and Film

• GCSE Film Studies: media studies

You will work well with 16-19 year olds and contribute to a student-centred environment both inside and outside of the classroom.  As a teacher, you will be innovative and reflective, with a genuine interest in young people and how they learn.

To teach at NewVIc you will be committed to supporting students in achieving success and have a strong belief in team-working.

We are looking for a full-time Teacher of Media to cover a period of sabbatical leave. The role will require planning and delivery on a range of media courses including level 2 and 3 vocational course. Experience in teaching design, photography and graphics units as well as experience of creating design work is essential along with proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and digital photography, moving image and digital media.

The college combines great facilities with quality teaching and high standards, including a new multi-million pound building, providing state of the art technology enabled learning resource centre, drama studio and café.
