Job overview

North Halifax Grammar School is a friendly, exiting and vibrant Academy where students are highly motivated and have the opportunity to be inspired and succeed.

We seek an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join a very successful department who has the ability to inspire, unite and motivate students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.

You will have the ability to deliver effective teaching and learning in English Literature and English Language at KS3 and KS4 and/or Media Studies at A Level. They will also have excellent communication skills and be a strong team player.

We are an Ofsted Outstanding (2011) Academy and believe that the strong collaboration of students, staff, parent/carers and governors continues to contribute towards the Academy’s outstanding status. A comment made in our most recent Ofsted report (2011) demonstrates the achievements being made and how this impacts on our students:

“The students’ outstanding behaviour, supported by a calm, studious and very caring school environment enables them to achieve results in their examinations at GCSE and A level which are significantly above the national averages. Inspectors noted many occasions where students’ thoughtful behaviour made an outstanding contribution to the learning taking place in classrooms. Students quickly focused on tasks, responded promptly to requests from their teachers and were very willing to support the learning of others. Attendance and punctuality are excellent.”

In return, you can expect full support and continuing professional development. We offer a professionally stimulating working environment where teachers have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the lives of our committed and co-operative students.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will need to undertake a DBS enhanced clearance, including checks with past employers.
