The Media Department at Salesian
We are a strong and vibrant team, who pride ourselves in delivering the very best outcomes for students who undertake A Level Media Studies, with us here at Salesian. Our small team is made up of staff with an abundance of experience and technical expertise. The department ethos is set around not only ensuring our lessons are engaging and rigorous but also that we are ‘going the extra mile’ for all our students. We ensure they receive the very best support within lessons and offer 1:1 intervention for those who need it outside of lessons.
We are very proud of our Media Studies students and the results we have achieved. However, we continue to strive to improve upon these. In recent years we have had 100% A*-C and hope to achieve 100% A*-B this summer. We recently changed specifications from OCR to Edugas to give students a better variety of set products to study. We hope to improve upon their understanding of vital historical, social, and political contexts that surround the mass media today. We believe that media studies is vitally important to students in ensuring their understanding what and why the media are choosing to present to them and the means in which they choose to deliver that information to their audience.
As a result of this we are eager to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic, and initiative individual. Our next phase for the department is to introduce Media Studies at GCSE and continue to grow our department through enrichment programmes, extra-curricular activities, and opportunities to support the fantastic PSHE programme we have here at Salesian.
All practical lessons are taught in a PC based media la. The school has provided us with the latest hardware and software including the entire Adobe Creative Cloud suite for students and teachers to have access both at work and at home for free. Salesian now has two green screen studios, with professional lighting and recording equipment, including 2 4K Canon cameras purchased recently for students to use to produce the very highest quality of coursework.
The school has an outstanding track record in training and developing middle leaders and senior leaders. Having trained over 30 teachers in the last year alone, the school has a wealth of experience in mentoring and developing teachers. We pride ourselves on our ability to support and help all staff through every step of their teaching journey.
Please feel free to contact me for any further details you require, or to simply come to meet us and have a look around.
