Job overview

We currently teach French to all Key Stage 3 students with an ambition to offer additional languages such as Spanish. You will be joining at an exciting time as we look to expand the number of students studying a language at Key Stage 4 with a positive trend of progress and attainment.

The department is well resourced with a range of learning materials and enjoys a dedicated set of iPads for students to participate in online learning. Teachers are committed to ensuring students enjoy language learning and are successful. The department are excited to re-launch trips and educational visits, and make more cultural connections.

The current Key Stage 3 curriculum covers full range of content set out in the national curriculum and includes a range of engaging topics, ensuring students are prepared for the next stage whether that be study of the language at GCSE and beyond or in its practical use in future careers and/or travel.

At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA specification. Both retrieval practice and metacognition feature heavily across all schemes of work. In addition, the department is outward thinking and collaborates with schools locally, nationally and across the Trust to ensure students receive the best possible language experience.

We have strong links with our main Primary feeder schools and are actively working to improve MFL teaching at Key Stage 2 to support transition and long-term attainment and engagement in languages. Furthermore, the department supports students to achieve GCSEs in heritage languages, with popular subjects including GCSE Polish, Arabic and Urdu.

MFL is an integral part of the curriculum at Moor End Academy. The Teacher of MFL post is crucial to the development of depth and breadth within the subject area. As a Teacher of MFL, you will be organised, enthusiastic and creative with strong subject knowledge and motivated to meet the high expectations of the academy and the department. We are excited about the new ideas the successful candidate will bring and the pivotal role they will play in driving our extra-curricular offer forward.

Moor End Academy is a fantastic place to work and MFL plays a crucial role in this. If you are a vibrant, hardworking, successful and creative individual, this is a very exciting opportunity and we’d love to hear from you.

The successful applicants will be required to undertake a Criminal Record Check via the DBS. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are an award winning Academy and have continued to be recognised by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’.  We are a truly inclusive school that welcomes students of all abilities. Our aim is to create a safe, stimulating, ambitious and caring environment to enable our students to thrive and achieve excellence; to make certain our future generation have the self-confidence to use their talents and skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Our vision is to maximise every child’s potential to ensure we can confidently say,” we gave every student his or her GCSE passport to success.” We passionately believe, as educators, we have the power and responsibility to inspire our students to be the best they can be to enable our learners to pursue their dreams and become the leaders of tomorrow.

Our motivation is to ensure that positive relationships are at the core of what we do every day, along with high quality teaching and pastoral care overseen by strong leadership. What we believe will follow is a strong ethos, and students with high expectations who demonstrate exceptional behaviour and want to be part of our school community.

We insist on high standards of behaviour, appearance, work ethic and respect for all to enable our staff to teach our students well so they learn to the best of their ability and leave the Academy with a first-class education.

1.  Respect

We are well behaved and considerate to all staff and students in our learning community.

2.  Ambition

We are hardworking and have an ambitious attitude to succeed and achieve.

3.  Responsibility
