Saltus Grammar School (Saltus) is a high achieving, co-educational day school educating students between the ages of 4 and 18. The school (Saltus) is a leading independent school in Bermuda and enjoys an excellent reputation in the local and international community.  The school has a Primary Department, which embraces the Foundation Year, the Lower Primary and the Upper Primary years, and a Secondary Department which includes Middle School (Years 7-9) and Senior School (Years 10 & 11) and Saltus Graduate Years (SGY1, SGY2). The school’s international curriculum blends the best of both UK and North American traditions, including its highly regarded Advanced Placement Programme.  In addition to academic excellence, particular emphasis is placed on the all-round development of students. 


Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French)


The successful candidate will teach Spanish and French at the Middle and Senior School levels and as required at the Primary School level. Experience and ability to teach (I)GCSE French and Spanish is required and Advanced Placement French and Spanish Language and Culture or equivalent is preferred.


Candidates for the above position:

• Must be a qualified graduate with a minimum of three years classroom teaching experience

• Must demonstrate a variety of teaching and learning approaches and resources

• Must be licensed by or qualified to be licensed by the Bermuda Educators Council

• Must demonstrate a variety of assessment and evaluation methodologies conducive to a 21st Century Learning environment

• Must be an experienced teacher with proven ability/success in the delivery of their subject in a differentiated classroom at all levels of the Secondary Department

• Demonstrate a strong understanding the Common European Framework of Reference for Language or the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages standards

• Familiarity with international language proficiency exams and certifications such as DEFL, DALF, DELE, TCF is an asset

• Ability to co-construct with students a foreign language learning environment that establishes high standards, fosters a sense of belonging, and upholds values of inclusivity and safety

• Must have a proven ability in the use of information technology in the delivery of the curriculum

• Must be able to use an online grading system and be willing to create and update schemes of work and resources

• Must have a commitment to the principles of independent education and be willing to contribute to extracurricular activities and the broader life of the School

• Must be committed to academic excellence and strive for positive relations with all students, parents and colleagues alike

• Must a team player and willing to work collaboratively and support the ongoing development of the department

• Must be willing to provide cover for absences and/or advisory

• Must be able to thrive in a busy environment

• Action Researcher

• Sense of humor

• Clean criminal record
