Job overview

TEACHER OF MUSIC & MUSIC TECHNOLOGY

Main pay range (£32,407 - £43,193)

Upper pay range (£44,687 - £48,055)

Required for September 2023 or earlier

We are one of the top performing grammar schools in the South East based in the London suburb of Sidcup. A heavily oversubscribed mixed grammar school where students excel with many going on to Russell Group universities.

Both Music and Music Technology are well-established and successful subjects in the school, with strong numbers and results at GCSE and A-level. The department is located in purpose-built standalone accommodation, which includes a recently upgraded Mac suite and recording studio.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, ambitious and enthusiastic teacher who wants to make a significant contribution both in the classroom, and to our thriving and expanding extra-curricular programme.

The teaching allocation will largely consist of Music Technology A level and KS3 music. Some input into music teaching at KS4/5 can be considered for the right candidate, but is by no means essential. The ideal candidate will be someone with flair, who can inspire our students and will want to fully involve themselves in our busy department, both in the classroom, and in our extra-curricular offering.

If you are passionate about your subject and can demonstrate outstanding teaching and learning, we would be delighted to receive your application. The appointed candidate will be innovative, dynamic, motivated and willing to teach to all levels.

In return, we can offer you:

·        Enthusiastic, able and well-behaved students

·        A Level teaching

·        Competitive pay and pension scheme

·        Tailored induction programme

·        BlueSky professional development scheme with the possibility of funding for additional qualifications.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure and other employment checks.

About Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School

The school opened in the Autumn Term of 1931 and has been at three different sites since then. 'CSGS' has been at the current site for over fifty years and has undergone considerable building development, which includes a new Art & Technology block.

Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School aims to educate and prepare for life able pupils from all backgrounds. This mission is dynamically carried forward within a caring, happy and supportive community. The education that ‘CSGS’ offers develops its pupils intellectually, emotionally and physically. The ingrained idea of excellence in school life allows pupils to reach the highest academic, sporting, cultural and aesthetic standards. The special quality of learning in the classroom is equally matched by the richness of teaching that pupils experience.

Whilst healthy competition is central to the ‘CSGS’ ethos, there are also many opportunities for pupils to enter into the wider life of the school. Service to the school and community is enthusiastically performed and high levels of leadership and responsibility are actively taken on by pupils at all levels. There is a supreme belief that building ‘CSGS’s’ tradition of excellence comes not from dwelling on yesterday’s successes but performing tomorrow’s tasks.

The continued success of ‘CSGS’ is matched by an ongoing focus on site development and improvement. Upon extremely attractive grounds, almost unique in the south east of England, a heavy investment programme in new facilities is unfolding. Aside from a range of well-resourced specialist teaching areas, the school continues to add new buildings.

Significant enhancements to the Sixth Form Centre have also provided our Year 12 and 13 students with a dedicated study facility closely attached to the school’s Learning Resource Centre.
