We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and ambitious teacher of Music with qualified teacher status to join a successful team.  

At Ashmole academy we have a busy and vibrant Music department offering:


  • A team of 15 visiting music teachers, one of whom is also the departmental accompanist.
  • Over 180 students taking instrumental or vocal lessons in school.
  • Many and varied performance opportunities for students including in both formal and informal settings. 
  • Twenty school places awarded each year for musical aptitude.
  • The Music Department is supported by a full-time Music Manager and full-time HLTA in Performing Arts.
  • Music links with other schools in the Ashmole Trust, and with Barnet Education Arts Trust.
  • Very busy co-curricular schedule, including two orchestras, two choirs, and several bands.
  • Many performance opportunities for students.
  • Students have opportunities to participate in performance masterclasses, including jazz and chamber music.
  • Frequent trips to watch concerts and other musical performances including opera and musical theatre.
  • Close collaboration with the Drama Department for annual school productions.
  • Termly ABRSM exams hosted in the Music Department. 


Ashmole Academy is a high performing and heavily oversubscribed local comprehensive school in North London, situated near Southgate Underground Station.  The school prides itself on maintaining a high level of mutual respect between students and all staff, and continues to support other schools as a Behaviour Hub lead school.
