Job overview

The Music Department at Bristol Grammar School is energetic, active, and very successful, both in the classroom and in the breadth and variety of co-curricular ensembles and activities available to students. We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and innovative Teacher of Music who will be expected to be able to teach all years in the Senior School, with Curriculum music being compulsory in year 7 and 8 and an option from year 9. At GCSE and A-level the AQA specification is followed. The successful candidate may also be required to offer a small number of curriculum lessons and/or responsibility for co-curricular activities within the Infant and Junior School. There will also be opportunity for the Teacher of Music to get involved with the many music activities and ensembles which range from large groups such as the BGS Orchestra, BGS Choir and Jazz Big Band, down to smaller groups such as Samba Band, and the girls’ and boys’ a cappella ensembles.
