Job overview

Required for January or Easter 2017 - an enthusiastic teacher of Music to join a flourishing Creative Arts Faculty delivering arts education in purpose built facilities.

 Teaching will include Music at Key Stage 3 and BTEC Music to examination level (currently BTEC/GCSE) at KS4. The Music department is well resourced with a wide range of instruments including a class set of Clarinets and Cornets for wider opportunities instrumental teaching, keyboards, guitars and percussion instruments. The main music room also houses a suite of Apple Mac computers using GarageBand, Logic Express and Sibelius.  

The successful candidate will also be expected to teach a second subject outside the faculty. 

 Students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities in music. At present these include a vocal group, keyboard club, guitar lessons and Dhol ensemble. A mixed instrumental ensemble is led by a second member of staff. The person appointed should be willing to develop these and strengthen the presence of music within the faculty and whole school.   

We are looking for a Music specialist who has a wide-ranging interest and knowledge of music and is able to deliver interesting and lively lessons incorporating composing, performance, listening and appraising. Work within a collaborative performing arts department, contributing to our annual musical and other cross -curricular projects. As a teacher the person appointed will need to be keen to contribute to our teaching and learning developments, both within the faculty and whole school.

Foxford School and Community Arts College is a co-educational maintained secondary school situated in Longford, Coventry. The school is for pupils aged 11-18 and features a sixth form with capacity for 150 students. Foxford School and Community Arts College has a catchment area spanning the West Midlands, including the towns of Broad Heath, Holbrook and Bell Green.

The secondary school is maintained by Coventry City Council and accommodates over 1,000 pupils.
