This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher of classroom Music to join a thriving Music Department within a leading independent day school based in the heart of Oxford.

In this key role, you will work enthusiastically with children in Reception and KS1, although there is the opportunity to be involved in choir work and performances with KS2. Experience and empathy with this age group are essential. 

A good level of piano skill will be essential as well as the ability to inspire a high standard of singing. Candidates should have high expectations of what girls this age can achieve in music.

Music at Oxford High School

Music is popular at the School, with 150 girls having music lessons in school each week in KS2 and group Recorder lessons available in Y2. There are many concerts and productions each year, including Harvest Festival, Christmas and summer performances.

About Oxford High School for Girls GDST

Oxford High School is an independent, non-denominational, all-through school for girls without nursery and with sixth form, situated in three sites in Summertown, North Oxford. It is one of 26 members of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust), meaning it is governed by the council and operates according to the trust’s policy. The school provides 906 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 4-19.

Oxford High School was founded in 1875 and is the oldest girls' school in the city. Until recently it accepted boys into its junior school, but is now girls-only.
