Job overview

Due to the growth of the Trust, including the opening of our brand new secondary school, River Academy, in September 2024, we are looking to appoint a Teacher of Music to work across Maiden Erlegh School in Reading and River Academy in a part time or full time capacity.

The successful candidate will be: 

  • Flexible in providing support and knowledge as needed and as the school grows.
  • An outstanding, research-informed practitioner with a proven record of raising attainment for students.
  • Able to inspire and challenge every student, enabling them to make excellent progress. Have a willingness to develop their own practice in line with our ethos of continuous improvement. 

The school will be a part of the successful Maiden Erlegh Trust who currently operate eight other schools in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. The Trust has a reputation for driving high standards and excellence in all its schools, with a strong track record of outcomes and improving OFSTED grading.

Our People Development Curriculum provides professional development pathways for every role within the Trust, both teaching and support staff, through which staff can tailor CPD to their own needs. 

We have a proven track record of supporting ambitious staff in to middle and senior leadership posts and can offer opportunities to broaden your impact on the sector through the work of the Maiden Erlegh Institute. We would like to thank you for your interest in River Academy. We are incredibly proud to be opening this exciting new secondary school benefiting from a multi-million pound building programme and state-of-the-art facilities. Our new school will provide a fantastic and enriching environment for teaching and learning, student care and support; a place for students to thrive and succeed.

When full, River Academy will cater for 1500 students between the ages of 11 and 18, of all abilities and backgrounds.
