A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead the provision of Music in our new Academy. This post is available due to the promotion of our current Music teacher to a Head of Department role.
Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018 and was oversubscribed in our first year 7 cohort. In September 2019 we will open a Sixth Form in addition to admitting another full cohort into year 7. Based on current applications we anticipate admitting a year 12 cohort of at least 100 students including at least one Music class. We are seeking an exceptional teacher of Music who will promote exceptional outcomes and opportunities for students, and helping to ensure the Academy builds on its excellent opening period to date.
This role will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop and teach an exciting curriculum in years 7 and 8 as well as working with our first cohort of post-16 students. All students – KS3 and Sixth Form – have individual laptops for use in lessons which allows IT to be a seamless part of their learning experience.
The successful applicant will need to teach A-level Music and should address this in their application. This post could be filled by two or more part-time staff, and applications from those seeking smaller part-time positions are welcome.
There is also potential for the role to develop as the school and Sixth Form grows, with various leadership opportunities becoming available in future years, both subject and whole-school based. Our priority is very much to recruit the best classroom practitioners who can ensure our students arrive at the Academy excited about the day ahead and leave each day talking about the excellent learning they have experienced.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. Our brand new building and state-of-the-art facilities help us to achieve this, but it is the fantastic team of staff who turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire students in the classroom and beyond then this provides you with an exciting opportunity to further shape your practice and develop your career.
Further details are available on the Academy website www.gwacademy.co.uk and in the information documents attached. Applications should be submitted electronically to email@example.com by 9am on Monday 17th June 2019. Interviews will take place later that week.
