Job overview

Are you an exceptional teacher of PE, with a good understanding of Dance GCSE requirements with a passion for, and expertise in, the facilitation of dance and aesthetics?

If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen at our school as we are looking for a PE teacher, with the ability to teach Dance to GCSE level. Dance was introduced to our curriculum three years ago, and we are looking for the right person to continue the development of this subject. We want to see Dance become embedded in our curriculum, and, moving forward, become central to the life of the school. Dance is taught as part of our rotation of PE lessons in Years 7 and 8, and taught as a separate examined subject in Years 9-11.

You will join a high-performing, motivated and cohesive team who support students to achieve excellent results at GCSE. We offer an excellent induction programme alongside a supportive working environment.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional to make a substantial contribution to the growth and development of Amery Hill School.  The role offers the successful candidate a challenge that will be both rewarding and fulfilling and will support you to achieve your own personal career goals and aspirations.

 You should be:

●       An outstanding classroom practitioner of PE and Dance

●       Passionate about engaging students within both curriculums, and enriching these with excellent extra-curricular opportunities.

●       Enthusiastic and full of ideas, with the drive to make things happen.

●       Able to monitor and evaluate the performance of your students, contributing to the PE Department’s continuous drive for improvement.

●       Able to enthuse students to achieve their full potential

●       Inspirational to colleagues and students – sharing best practice

●       Able to commit to, and raise further, high achievement.

In return for your commitment we can offer:

●       A school and a senior leadership team that will allow you to be inspirational, proactive and play an active part in our school improvement

●       A supportive and reflective department

●       Tailored CPD with a strong commitment on developing individual career paths

●       A stimulating, attractive and welcoming learning environment

●       An approach which supports and stimulates professional growth; we take pride in helping our staff to develop their careers, and place a high emphasis on staff wellbeing. Our average teacher contact ratio is substantially lower than the national benchmarks, reflecting the value that we place on giving teachers the time they need in the pursuit of excellence in the classroom.

Joining Amery Hill School as an ECT would be an excellent start to your teaching career with benefits including:

●       An established and extensive ECT programme

●       Support and expertise of departmental mentors

●       A tailor-made whole school professional development programme

●       Support network of other ECT’s across subject areas
