Job overview

RGS Guildford (Senior School) is recruiting for a full time Teacher of PE & Games, with the opportunity for Head of Hockey, to join its busy PE department from September 2023.

A wide range of sports is offered at The RGS including hockey, rugby, tennis, basketball and cricket. The School's facilities are of a professional standard and include an outstanding 20-acre playing field complex.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher and, in addition to teaching PE, will coach and officiate teams in each of the School's major sports. As a member of the PE department, it is a requirement that the successful candidate is available on Saturdays throughout the school year to assist in the smooth running of block fixtures.

The opportunity to take on Head of Hockey would mean responsibility for the overall administration of hockey within the School and for the continued development of a progressive and cohesive coaching structure. They will coordinate fixtures, lead on staff INSET and manage the coaching staff in consultation with the Director of Sport, and with support from the Department Administrator.

In return we offer:

  • Remuneration well above the national scale
  • Medical cover
  • Salary sacrifice schemes
  • Use of on-site gym at certain times of the day
  • Lunch and refreshments are provided during term time

The RGS has a proven track record of career progression, both internally in the School and promotion to other schools.

If you are confident in the school's major sports, are regularly available on Saturdays and are passionate about teaching pupils of the highest calibre, we want to hear from you.
